KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 -- National professional boxer Adli Hafidz Mohd Pauzi will take on Thai boxer Komsan Polsan to decide who will walk away with the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) World Middleweight title on Jan 29.

Adil Hafidz, who is also known as Goldenboy, said he was not afraid of facing Komsan, who has 40 wins and is more experienced in boxing, in the championship bout for the vacant UBO World Middleweight belt.

"Komsan made his debut in 2005, and I was in Form Three at the time. He really has a lot of experience but my coach has already arranged for me to fight several other experienced boxers as preparation.

"Mostly I’ll be going up against Indonesian boxers as they have good enough records and experience,” he said at a media conference here today.

Adli Hafidz, who possesses a clean record of nine wins from nine career bouts, including five knockouts (KO), said that he would do his best in the ring and draw on strategies and experience he gleaned from his previous fights and training.

He said he would use his physical height, 180 centimetres (cm) compared to Komsan (170 cm), to his advantage, and rely on his speed and reach to win the bout.

Adli Hafidz added that they had plans to organise the fight around the capital, and were deciding between several locations, including Axiata Arena, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre and Genting Highlands.

“We are targeting 1,000 spectators with tickets priced between RM30 and RM150,” he said.

He also shared his mission and vision of participating in the South East Asia (SEA) Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and the Olympics, besides his dream of opening a boxing academy to promote the sport in the country.

On Oct 5, Adli Hafidz beat Indonesian boxer Robert Kopa by technical knockout (TKO) in a UBO Inter Continental Middleweight fight.
